Retrograde

Progress is rarely linear. We move forward, reassess, revisit, and occasionally find ourselves returning to places we thought we had already passed through. What appears to be a delay is not always a detour. What appears to be a setback is not always a loss of momentum.

Sometimes the return is part of the process.

There is a tendency to measure progress by constant forward movement. More growth. More momentum. More visible results. Yet some of the most important shifts occur when we slow down long enough to reconsider where we are headed and why.

Periods of reassessment are often misunderstood. They can feel inconvenient, uncertain, or even frustrating. Yet they frequently provide something that momentum alone cannot: perspective. The opportunity to refine what is working, release what is not, and realign with what matters most before continuing forward.

Retrograde was created around that understanding. Oceanic notes and airy freshness create a sense of openness and movement, while mineral woods, patchouli, and deeper elements add complexity beneath the surface. The fragrance feels expansive yet reflective, balancing forward motion with thoughtful restraint. Like looking back at a familiar landscape from a different vantage point, new details emerge with time.

The result is an atmosphere of recalibration. A reminder that growth is not defined by speed alone. Sometimes the most meaningful progress comes through revisiting, refining, and realigning before taking the next step forward.

Our candles are formulated with elevated fragrance concentrations within industry safety standards. Due to the nature of fragrance composition, scent performance, cold throw, and hot throw may vary slightly between fragrances and vessel sizes.

Care + Maintenance

Trim the wick to 1/4” before each lighting to support a cleaner, more even burn. During the first burn, allow the wax to melt fully across the surface to help prevent tunneling and preserve the integrity of the fragrance over time.

Burn on a stable, heat-safe surface away from drafts, curtains, or open windows. To maintain the atmosphere and craftsmanship of the candle, avoid burning for longer than 4 hours at a time.

Discontinue use when 1/2” of wax remains. Once finished, the vessel can be cleaned and repurposed within your space or daily rituals.

Material Integrity

Finished with consciously sourced materials, reusable vessels, and low-waste packaging practices. Ritual candles are topped with wild-harvested botanicals and ethically sourced crystals selected to complement the atmosphere of each scent.

Poured into reusable amber glass vessels designed for warmth and quiet presence within the home. Finished with steel lids for preservation between rituals.

Crafted using a coco apricot wax blend with natural cotton wicks for a clean, even burn.

8 oz vessels feature a single wick for smaller spaces and softer scent diffusion, while 16 oz vessels are poured with double wicks for broader atmospheric throw and more even burn performance.

Crafted with fragrance oils infused with essential oils and formulated to meet our highest standards for atmospheric integrity. Developed without phthalates, organ toxins, acute toxins, CMRs, or ingredients listed under California Prop 65.
