Most women who were taught to shrink did not receive an explicit instruction. The conditioning arrived as pattern, absorbed before it could be questioned, and organized the self around conclusions that stopped feeling like lessons and started feeling like personality. This essay examines what that costs, what it disguises itself as, and what becomes available when the editing is finally recognized for what it is.
